This web site is designed to offer an introduction to the topic of economics. It is meant for those new to the subject who may not have any academic knowledge but would like to gain a basic grasp of the ideas and concepts behind it.
It briefly outlines what economics is about and why it is worth studying.
The basic principles are explained in simple language in easy to follow tabs.
It is suitable for those studying for the leaving certificate exams or doing a basic economics module on a business course.
Apart from the written text, visitors will also find short video clips in which various experts give brief lessons on some of the topics discussed.
In the resources section other resources such as lesson plans and more video clips are provided to assist educators in teaching the subject.
I have also included a list of web sites with links which I think are useful for those who would like to look into topics in more detail.
There is a blog page which can be used to converse with other users of the site to discuss any of the topics or to ask for help or further explanations. please feel free to join our community there, all are welcome.

I am a mature student of St Patrick's College of Education in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland. I am studying for a Joint Honours Degree in Education and Business Studies. I do however have a number of years of international experience of working in the private sector within the Hotel and Catering Industry. I have worked in both privately owned and large multinational companies in the sector and in a variety of managerial positions up to CEO and Director level. I am a former graduate of the Shannon College of Hotel Management and the Athlone Institute of Technology.
